Gefen Full HD 1080p Video Distribution solution used to create an award-winning display solution for the Club's gaming rooms.
“Gefen offers ideal solutions for club gaming applications. These solutions make configuration and implementation easy. We look forward to expanding the system to include the entire club floor!” Matthew Joyce, WED Group.
St George Leagues Club in Sydney, Australia is one of the city’s largest gaming venues offering high quality entertainment for its members. When Club Executive Manager Gary Garr noticed the video graphics displayed on the club’s displays looked “messy”, he called trusted AV technology integration firm WED Group to come up with a solution.
“Over the past few years, the club’s video distribution system became increasingly unreliable, which is a significant problem in a venue of such a high calibre that is expected to deliver premiere entertainment,” said Matthew Joyce, WED Group Services and Integration Manager.
Matthew suggested the club revamp their content distribution system using Gefen’s 1080p Video Over IP KVM VGA and HDMI receivers, splitters and transmitters to distribute stunningly engaging graphics to over 100 gaming screens that can be seen from anywhere within the club.
“Gefen equipment completely eliminates reliability issues, and offers a seamless new way to distribute content across multiple displays. With this new video distribution system, the club can now easily distribute animated gaming graphics – such as current jackpot levels – for customers to see across the entire club floor. Plus, if any rare issues are to arise, troubleshooting for the technical team is simple.”
St. George Leagues Club’s old system used VGA extenders that were “piggy backed” off each other, which was extremely sensitive. Additionally, the extenders were not labelled, making it difficult to diagnose problems. The newly built system uses a sophisticated network of Gefen 1080p products paired with a Cisco SG500 48 port switch and ASUS Wireless Router to eliminate these issues.
With four Gefen VGA KVM Video Over IP Transmitters, twelve Gefen VGA KVM Video Over IP Receivers, six Gefen HDMI KVM Video Over IP Receivers, four Gefen 1 by 8 HDMI splitters, and two Gefen 1 by 4 HDMI Splitters, the team at St George Leagues Club know the graphic content is distributed smoothly within the club.
“We essentially took multiple gaming graphic PCs and connected them to Gefen KVM transmitters,” Joyce explained. “Once they were connected to the Cisco switch and programmed with their output channel, they could be left alone to keep the transmission extremely neat. The result is a simple and seamless video distribution system.”

St George Leagues Club has plans to expand the system in the future to add an additional 100 screens, and incorporate digital advertising to boost revenue for the Club.
