The annual Golden Horse Awards in Taipei has long been a magnet for prestigious film directors and producers in the Chinese language cinema realm. Last November, the movie-making industry stood still to celebrate the magic of Chinese cinema and those who make it what it is today.
The 54th annual Awards ceremony drew crowds of world-renowned producers, directors and actors, including two-time Oscar-winning director Ang Lee. With so many VIP guests making an appearance, the technical team chose JTS Microphones’ UF-20 UHF to deliver pristine and dependable audio throughout the entire event.
The Golden Horse Awards first ran in 1962 before quickly taking place as one of the most significant awards ceremonies in the Chinese speaking film world. 2017’s ceremony took place at Taipei’s Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and was fully televised. Ang Lee and American actress Jessica Chastain presented the Best Actress statuette to Kara Hui for the box office-busting crime drama The Bold, the Corrupt and the Beautiful.

The UF-20 offers faultless coverage from 200 to 480 metres, with extremely low companding noise, cascadable power and antenna distribution, in addition to an optional slide-in rechargeable transmitter station. There is an option for 2400 to 3000 selectable frequencies across 60 to 75MHz operation, plus built-in equalisation and 15 preset groups, each incorporating up to 63 compatible channels, and six user programmable groups of up to 63 compatible channels. Intuitive use is promised with a free-space scan function and one-button synchronisation between the transmitter and receiver. On top of this, real-time updates on system performance are available on the receiver, including alerts for mute, low battery, RF signal drops and more.
